Whether you’re a former player, a coach looking to broaden your skillset, or a parent keen to support community rugby, becoming a referee is a rewarding way to stay involved in the game.

Why become a Rugby Official?

  • Stay active and connected to the game

  • Give back to your community

  • Learn more about the laws and spirit of rugby

  • Access development pathways at the provincial, national and international levels

BC Rugby will be offering two further Level 1 Courses in North Vancouver and Victoria across October-November 2025. Courses are open to participants aged 14+ and include both classroom and on-field components.

Courses will take place on:

  • October 24, 2025 – Carson Graham Secondary School (North Shore Pro-D Day – Carson Graham Secondary) – 9:00am-4:00pm PST

Courses cost $100 plus taxes. Must be 14+ to take the course. Talk with your Club about possible funding.

For questions, please contact BC Rugby Officials Development Manager, Chris Assmus, at cassmus@bcrugby.com

Certification lasts as long as you actively officiate and complete the ongoing education – no need to repeat each year!
